The Monsoon Cup is the culmination of the WMRT calendar, and consitutes the world championship. The Monsoon Cup 2008 saw the largest number of individual broadcasters to date, taking the live package to 11 with an additional 8 new broadcasters, more are expected for 2009. In 2008 we broadcast live to over 105 countries and reached a total of 179 countries with the daily highlights show and news distribution. The cumulative 2008 viewing figures reached 1,216,835,000 an increase of 234 million on 2007. With Total broadcast time for highlights and live shows at 12,760 minutes or 369 minutes per broadcaster this equates to a GROSS MEDIA VALUE rated at $39,423,000.
For 2009 we are expecting the numbers to be much larger, as more broadcasters taking larger packages. We are already in discussion with numerous new broadcasters waiting in the wings for 2009. In 2009 we will also operate a dedicated news service.
"I am pleased to provide this endorsement of your TV production/direction capabilities. I can think of few people I would have involved in and/or running the America's Cup television production than yourself. This based on the work I have seen you do first have in recent World Match Racing Tour events, including and especially the Monsoon Cup where we had a live "footprint" of something north of a billion homes, and the highly successful telecast of last summer's German Sailing Grand Prix in Kiel, GER.
It would be a huge step forward for the Cup if you were involved here in Valencia now, to say nothing of next time for AC 33. I sincerely hope that will come to pass."

"Thank you for having us at the 2008 Monsoon Cup. We made a very good job with my editor on site. Head of programming was very happy with PJ's commentary broadcasted for the first time on our waves. Good job!"
